How long does my registration / passport take to be returned
If you have a question that isn't answered here, please email us and if pertinent, we will post the question and answer here.
We usually aim to turn round any passort applications / transfers of ownerships the day they are received. Delays are usually due to forms being incorrectly filled out, us not being able to read them (please use capital letters) or for transfers, where the previous owner has not signed the form. However, please allow up to 14 working days before you contact us.
Please ensure that you have paid the correct postage (especially with the new postal fees) as we will not accept any correspondence that has insufficient funds.
Does my Saddlebred need to be USA-UK registered in order to compete in Saddlebred classes?
For some he does, for others no.
For most shows he/she must be registered with a Saddlebred registry - some insist that to enter the purebred breeding classes he/she must be registered with / eligible for registration with the ASHA in America (the BMHS Spring Show). At this show in order to be eligible to take part in the Saddlebred Performance Championships, then the exhibitor must also be a USA-UK member (you can join on the day).
The Star of London Show insists that Saddlebreds are USA-UK registered to enter the Saddlebred classes, as does the Royal London Show.
Our Championship Show insists that exhibitors are USA-UK members in order to take part in the Saddlebred Performance Class. Reduced entry fees are given to USA-UK members competing with USA-UK registered horses. For 2009 reduced entry fees for USA-UK members have also been negotiated at the Bucks Fizz Show on 26th April & at the BMHS Spring Show on 30th May.
How can I take part in the Annual Awards and Hi-Point Awards
We run these for both Saddlebreds and non-Saddlebreds. To take part your horse must first be USA-UK registered or have one of our passports. No points can be earned prior to this. Points are held on file for the life of the horse. In addition, owners must be current members in order for the horse to earn points. If there is a gap in membership, previously earned points remain on file for that horse and resume once the owner has rejoined.
What are the benefits of being a USA-UK member?
Well, there are too many to list, so here are the few short ones:
You will be supporting the UK's Saddlebred charter club dedicated to upholding the integrity and purity of the breed and which is the major showing organisation for American Saddlebreds in the UK.
You will receive regular newsletters and e-news bringing you up to date with what is happending in the UK, Europe and the rest of the world, as well as keeping you in touch with like minded indiciduals.
You will receive reduced entry fees at some shows.
You will receive reduced ASHA membership rates.
You will be eligible to take part in the numerous year end awards and be eligible for members rosettes at many shows throughout the UK.
You will be eligible to take part in the many Saddlebred Championships held at shows throughout the UK (most are only open to USA-UK members).
If you are into showing your Saddlebred, the USA-UK is the Association for you.
I have a Saddlebred for sale. How do I advertise him/her?
Members can advertise ANY horse they have for sale (not just a Saddlebred) FREE in our newsletters and on our websites, providing the ad does not exceed 1/4 of a page in the newsletter - if it does, then for a small fee it can be included. Non-members may also advertise their Saddlebreds for sale FREE - this would be 1-2 lines, with a contact telephone or email address. For larger ads, or to include photo's a small fee is charged, to help offset printing costs.
