If your stallion already has DNA on file (must be lodged with the Registrar), then the fee is £25.
All NEW passports issued for entire males will have the stallion licence for incorprated within. For those that do not, the form is shown below.
Stallions applying to USA-UK for approval will be accepted under the following conditions:
1. All stallions must be registered with USA-UK.
2. Stallions must be at least 2 years of age when inspected for USA-UK Licensing.
3. All stallions must be DNA profiled (including partbreds).
4. All stallions must pass the veterinary inspection detailed herein.

1. Fee’s correct as of Oct 2007. If applying for stallion licensing please contact USA-UK to confirm current stallion licensing fees.
2. All veterinary fee’s to be borne by the owner of the stallion.
3. On approval all stallion owners must submit to USA-UK an annual nominated stallion breeding report (available from USA-UK) by 31st December each year.
4. The page herein must be completed by a veterinary surgeon and returned to the Horse Registrar, together with the correct fee.
DNA PROFILE
Kits are available from the Horse Registrar and the price included within the stallion licensing fee. (If your horse already has a DNA profile on file, the cost of stallion licence is just £25). Your DNA kit will be forwarded to you once payment has been received. (You may wish to pay in advance so that the vet can collect DNA sample at the same time as he/she does the inspection).
Once your horse’s DNA profile is on file and after passing the veterinary inspection for hereditary diseases, your stallion licence will be issued. Offspring of licensed stallion are eligible for discounted USA-UK registration.

VETERINARY STANDARDS The clinical examination will include the following:

Conformation
The general appearance and conformation on
veterinary grounds will be studied; e.g. narrow
feet, flat soles, pigeon toes and vice versa,
cow and sickle hocks and angular deformities
of the limbs.
Head
a) Mouth - Malformation of the teeth and jaws;
e.g. parrot mouth.
b) Eyes - Maldevelopment of the lens, iris or
retina. Cataract.
c)Throat Signs of an operation for wind defects.
Forelimbs
Narrow or flat feet, ringbone, sidebone, navicular
disease. Allowances will be made when the cause
is an obvious injury.
Body
Evidence of being permanently affected with any
contagious or infectious disease.
Genitalia Examination of testicular size, texture
and degree of descent, scrotal hernia. Both
testicles must be of equivalent size and fully
descended.
Movement
Study of action at walk, trot, turning and
backing and look for evidence of stringhalt,
shivering, upward fixation of the patella.
Lungeing For evidence of laryngeal hemiplega
(whistling / roaring), Wobbler disease. Trot
up again after a short rest period, assess
evidence for being affected with any disease
or defect rendering the animal unsuitable for
breeding purposes.
